| BESTWA (pronounced Best Way)
stands for Building Economic Success Together in West Africa. Our aim is to improve
the economic condition of the poorest of the poor in West Africa, beginning in
Liberia. | |
| Our mission is to improve the
economic condition of individuals in West Africa. We do this by providing financial,
educational, material and managerial resources to micro-level entrepreneurs and
other businesses for economic livelihood activities. We also support the local
community by providing medical equipment and supplies, school books, student school
materials (paper, pencils, etc.), vitamins, protein powder and various other needed
supplies. | | We
work diligently to restore each individual's personhood and vocation in the Kingdom
of God. Our basis for operation is our desire for each Liberian to know that "I
am of great worth because I am uniquely created and loved by God" and "I
am created to be productive and contribute to God's Kingdom in a way no one else
can." | Board
of Directors | | Chief
Joseph Zeogar Saywrain, Chief of Chiefs of the Bassa People. Chief Saywrain
has claimed Andy as his own son and is Andy’s "Old Man in Africa". The Bassa
people are one of the major people groups in Liberia. |
| Our work is headquartered in Buchanan,
the second largest city in Liberia. The Mayor of Buchanan, The Honorable
Lord Mayor Obediah Y. Zangar, is a godly man and a great friend of both
IGO and BESTWA. The hospitality extended to us in his city is endless. Andy and
Mayor Zangar are working together on a number of projects. We were able to provide
him with a laptop computer with which Mayor Zangar was able to document all the
wells and their conditions in Buchanan as well as start a postal system. |
The Liberian
Red Cross awarded the National Service Award to Andy for his work with
economic development. This honor is far beyond the very small contribution we
made, but we are thankful for the credibility and open doors it provides. Receiving
